This is the view of the lake next to our tents. It’s splendid if you ask me!

Today we headed out on camp in camp which was heralded as a traditional scouting experience. With the sun shining we headed down to the busses. After a two hour wait we caught a bus to our destination. Beautiful does not really begin to describe the place. We spent the first half an hour bathing in the lake followed by some crafts using antler horn. We took part in a walk through the forest which had check points which encouraged us to think about the surroundings we where in. At one check point we ate raspberries from the bushes around us.

I’ve been collecting beads from the module activities the yellow one is from quest and the turquoise one is from people.

In the run up to the jamboree they’ve been trying to convince us to use the I’d card or bank cards to pay at the Jamboree. While still stating we could still use cash. The truth appears to be now that very few places here take cash everywhere pretty much need you to use your ID badge or bank card. So I’m standing in a massive queue to put money on my card.

I guess this counts as an afternoon activity.

I’ve been a bit tardy with my blogging the last couple of days mostly because its been really busy, and partly because it’s been raining so we’ve been trying really hard to keep the kids spirits up.

It’s hard to be positive when your wet through to your underwear, but I really did think the games and challenges on Quest yesterday where really good fun.

Last night for tea we had 20 Finnish scouts join us, my patrol were on cooking duty and produced an alright beef stir fry and Swedish doughnuts, the clearing up took forever but the kids got on famously and was a big reminder of why we are here.

There’s a bit of a rumour that the me and the other leaders may be staying in a hotel for Ho Ho with the kids staying with families. I could probably manage a hotel stay about now.

Onwards and upwards

I’ve had my last proper shower till the ferry to Ho Ho. Packed again, and put my uniform on. Now we need to move our bags the kilometre to the coach pick up point for the trip to the Jamboree site. Quite excited.

Breakfast at the hostel seems to be the usual affair of bread, meat, museli, and such. All good as I’m quite partial to those things.

Ice cream, nuff said.

Sat in airport departures lounge, the clocks ticking to Jambo time

Well I’ve almost got everything in with about 5 kilos to spare in my holdall. Seems it’s impossible to get 20 kilos of stuff in it so the kids should be ok.
