Drop Beats Not Bombs

It’s official, I’m going to be performing visuals at Drop Beats not Bombs on November 8th at the Rainbow in Digbeth.  I’m just waiting to hear which set I’m going to be doing but hopefully it’ll either be some awesome breaks or some nice chilled out electronica.

You can find the full line up at www.dropbeatsnotbombs.co.uk tickets are £10 and well worth the money.

PXP IV The Aftermath

On Saturday evening the forth Project X Presents took place at BusK on Gough Street. Despite the owner being a bit twitchy when we turned up with what appeared to be a pile of scrap, and boxes of equipment, by dress rehearsal they where just as excited as us.

In the end I performed visuals for SubSource as well as taking part in the VJ mashup during Marc Reck’s set at the end of the night. After clearing up the downstairs room, I finally got home at 7.30 on Sunday morning.

This was the first time I’ve VJ’d with my own content previously I’d only used Leons stuff, it was quite an awakening although I had what I beleived to be plenty of material I soon ran out and was recycling and using filters like crazy. My new rule of thumb, work out what you think you may need and double it. This means that I’m going to be clipmaking for quite some time trying to build up a collection of unique material.

PXP Venue Sneek Peek

Wonder what the venue for the next Project X Presents show looks like before the madness starts?  You do! Fantastic.  We had the second of two visits to the venue last Wednesday and have sorted out some of the arrangements whilst there.  Theres going to be two rooms with our guests entering through the smaller downstairs “chill out”  space then moving up to the main room.  Dave Moore who is the appointed geezer in charge of the venue and one of our ace soundmen showed us around and even let us have a mooch in the beer store, mind you we were only looking at the electricity supply (Honest guv).

I’ve uploaded some photos from the first visit to my gallery here …

STRAX and Tagtool and other stuff

Ive been a bit quiet of late because I have been settling into life in my new job at Delcam PLC. But do not be concerned as I have been tinkering in the background.

A while back was the opening night of STRAX the audio visual show at Concrete in the jewelery quarter, I built and supplied a tagtool for the performance although I didn’t get to use it that much as I was stuck up on the door making sure that people entered the competition and paid up to get in.

The tagtools quite a fun device to use and may get a bit of use over the coming months culminating in it’s premiere event Project X Presents on June 14th.

X-Lab:VL Done & Dusted

After a week of burning the candle at both ends and in the middle, the curtain went up at the X-Lab:VL show at Concrete.  Right now I’m far too knackered to make any sense but my photos are here.  The next shows in June so if you missed this one keep your eyes open.
